A. Muhaari

Muhaari has dedicated over two decades to serving his community, specializing in psychosocial support and advocacy. Starting his career as a youth worker, he focused on sexual health education and counseling, which paved his way into social justice efforts. His experience revealed the crucial role of Social Determinants of Health and the urgency of tackling systemic barriers. Muhaari’s expertise includes capacity building, community outreach, organizational development, action research, resource mobilization, training, and advocacy.

Previously, as the Director of Support and Services and the Interim Executive Director at Black CAP (the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention), Muhaari oversaw 27 distinct programs ranging from health promotion and harm reduction to mental health and trauma-informed care. He was instrumental in crafting advocacy strategies that influence policymakers, aiming for sustainable, impactful change. Muhaari firmly believes in confronting oppressive systems at every level to achieve their dismantlement.

He is currently the Director of Services at Turning Point Youth Services, where he continues to leverage his extensive background in support and advocacy to make a significant impact in the lives of young people
